Loving Our Enemies

DAY 3 OF 10

Another infrastructure issue to help equip us to “love our enemies” is to have our entire beings cleansed from bitterness, resentment and unforgiveness. These sentiments are like deadly poisons to the human soul. We simply cannot afford to harbor, feed or nurture such destructive elements within us. To be liberated from such things is one of the greatest challenges in life. This is because part of the image of God within us is a longing for justice. However, executing perfect justice is the one attribute of God that we are not called to emulate in this age.

Like Jesus, through His example, we are often called to sacrifice our expectation and/or requirement for justice, so that forgiveness and mercy can be freely offered to others. There is always a legitimate suffering embedded in mercy-showing. However, “mercy triumphs over judgment”. What would our world be like if there were no such thing as forgiveness? What would your life be like if there were no such thing as forgiveness? Can you thank God for not executing perfect justice toward you?

Ask God to remind you of some ways that He has shown you His mercy in your history?

About this Plan

Loving Our Enemies

Jesus said, “Love your enemies.” If the 2.2 billion Christians in the world did so, a contagious revolution would commence. Have you learned how? This greatest moral ethic in the history of humanity can only be embodied by people who allow Him to live “with” them in a genuine interactive relationship. In these lessons learn the infrastructure needed within our beings to spontaneously and authentically love our enemies.
