Let Me Live in Peace

DAY 3 OF 5

Not to worry and not to live in fear is a decision. Jesus promised that He would leave us a peace different from that of this world, and that peace is a decision that requires maturity of faith.

I was recently preaching at our church in Monterrey, and on my way back, as I was about to board my flight out of the country, I realized that I had lost the paper I had been given by immigration when I entered Mexico. Many of you will know that it is mandatory to present this paper to leave the country without paying a fine.

But I had lost it, the fine was 27 dollars and could only be paid in cash. I didn't have this money with me, so first I went to the bank, then to the ATM, and then back to the airline counter, but there was no way to get that cash. You can imagine my frustration. Aware that I would not be able to board my flight, I called my wife, Lucy, and told her I would be home the next day, a busy Tuesday, with meetings and interviews.

In the midst of all this, another man appeared, totally angry, and entered the airport office screaming, crying, and insulting others because he had also lost his paper and could not find any cash to pay for it.

When I saw him, I did a self-analysis of the situation and thought, "Am I going to let this steal my peace?”

As soon as I decided to take it easy, my cell phone rang. Steven, our campus pastor in Monterrey, had arranged a flight that would allow me to arrive in time to fulfill all my Sunday commitments.

At the very moment that I made the decision not to let the situation steal my peace, the solution came. How many times do we not see the solution because we allow situations to steal our peace? What response are we going to have when the one who comes to steal, kill and destroy knocks on the door of our life?
