You Can Trust God By Nina Smit Sample
God Keeps His Promises
When you get older, it is sometimes hard to accept that you are not as sharp as you used to be. You become increasingly forgetful, tend to be impatient with yourself and are generally anxious about what lies ahead for you in the future. You simply don’t have the desire or energy to do certain things that had been a piece of cake when you were younger.
God wants to use elderly people in His kingdom too. After all, Abraham was 75 when He received God’s promise of being the father of a great nation. After that he still had to wait another 24 years before the promise was fulfilled. By that time, it was humanly impossible for him and his wife to conceive a child. Even so, Isaac was born when Abraham was 100 and Sarah 90 or 91 years old. (I am very thankful I don’t have to accept that challenge!)
God can still make the impossible possible. You can believe it—He has proved it so many times in the past. Hold on tightly to His promises to you, for He will fulfill them in His time and in His way.
Faith in Jesus enables us to live our earthly lives with faith and optimism, despite our circumstances, knowing that heaven awaits us. This Easter, remember the good news of the gospel: the promise to every believer in Jesus that we already have eternal life.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You know I am often unsure. Give me the faith of Abraham so I can be absolutely sure that You will bring to pass what You have promised. Amen.
