Commitment - Re-Commitment

DAY 6 OF 7

Prudy Verzo: Re-Commit

Most of us are not gifted with focus because there are many items, circumstances, and events that are happening around us; and those distract us from our commitments. What are the things that you commit to do yet you often forget? Maybe you set a date with your spouse but your work demanded you to take an overtime. Maybe you told your child that you’re going to buy him a toy yet it slipped your mind. As a student, maybe you said you’re going to study for a long quiz tomorrow yet you overplayed in a computer game. And the list goes on and on and on. We easily forget commitments.

Oftentimes in our Christian life we forget our commitment to God. We miss one thing in our relationship with Him then, in time, we recognize that we have drifted a bit far from Him. Sadly, that is our default. Yet God keeps on ‘reminding’ us through circumstances, through a sermon, through a song, through a post on social media, through a message from a friend, probably even through a life crisis, and most importantly, through the Bible stories and passages.

In our verse today, God’s Big Word for us is REMEMBER...then He said further, ‘Repent’ and do the works you did in the past. Let me end today’s devotional by asking you to ‘RECOMMIT’ your life to God, in Jesus Christ, every time you forget your commitment to Him.

Prayer: Lord God, I am sorry because I easily get distracted by my concerns for the everyday happenings and by the demands of the day from my commitment with you. Please help me to recommit my life to you. Please send the Spirit to remind me of our relationship before and give me the courage to go back to it, in Jesus' name, amen.
