In All CircumstancesSample
Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; he is the one.”
David was anointed king at age 17, but he was not appointed king until he was 37. There was a 20 year gap from anointing to appointing. During the 20 years in between, God “grew” a king. A king was grown out of the dark times in the caves running from Saul. David learned to trust in God whether he could see God or not, through the good and the bad. There were many times during the 20 years where David thought his kingdom would never transpire because he was certain Saul would kill him. But, during the 20 years, God disciplined David, taught David and inspired David.
Are you in the midst of your 20 years in between anointing and appointing? If you read in Proverbs 31 where it says, “her children will rise and call her blessed” and think to yourself, “when?” Then you are in your "20 year gap." Don’t give up! Don’t believe the lie that the world feeds us, that there is something more out there for us as a mom. Stay the course. Don't lose sight of God's ultimate plan for you...let Him discipline, teach, and inspire you.
This "20 year gap" truth washes over us all the time in our fast-paced world. We want to see the fruits of our labor quickly. But the fact of the matter is that it takes 18 years to train up a child. Being a mom is hard, tedious work. Being a mom is not for the faint of heart. Don’t be discouraged, God anointed you! He will be with you in your 20 year gap, just like he was with David.
Father,
Thank you for staying with me in the “gap." At times, I feel I will never reach the finish line. At times, I believe my children will never appreciate me and what I sacrifice for them everyday. But, God, You appreciate me. You see everything that I do, and YOU are enough! Thank You God for anointing me to be the mom to my children. Give me the endurance I need to finish the journey well.
