God’s Judgment and Mercy
Exodus 9:16; 11:7
“…I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth…Then you will know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.”
God’s judgment of the false gods and idols of Egypt, and his protection of his people Israel, exposed the distinction between the two spiritual camps. We either live in covenant with God or we live in rebellion against him, enslaved by other gods. In his mercy, God’s judgment makes the distinction between light and darkness, good and evil. In every generation, God calls his people out of the world to be holy, separated unto him. He then sends us back into the world as salt and light to declare his gospel and the saving power of his name. The judgment of false gods, call for repentance and deliverance/protection of God’s people is repeated in Revelation. Once again God will proclaim his name to the nations through judgment and mercy, and a distinction will be made between worshipers of the Lamb and those who choose to rebel.
Lord Jesus, your name is above every name. I pray for holiness and humility this day, as I live on mission with you.
