Unstoppable GodSample
"I will break free from the prison, free from the chains. Washed by redemption, I am not the same. I will forgive you!"
Forgiveness. We speak of it in such positive terms. We long to be forgiven, we celebrate being forgiven, we know our Father will forgive us.
It is all so amazing! Until we find ourselves hurt by someone.
Humanity is broken. Nothing here is perfect. We have all been hurt by those we love. Hurt by those we don’t know. Hurt by those we trust. At the end of the day the concept of forgiveness is fine for those who have less hurt, less betrayal; but how can we forgive what was done to us?
Sometimes in Christianity we make things so easy, as if forgiveness is simply the act of playing mental gymnastics. No amount of that can lead you to forgive the person who abused you.
We should not minimize the difficulty of forgiving someone who really hurt you. In fact, we should seek to understand why it is so important.
It is important because you are important.
Forgiving is for you. This process of forgiving (and it is a process) is also the process by which you will find true healing! Begin breaking free of this prison, let go of these chains. Do not let the actions of another dictate the rest of your life!
You are a child of God, made in his image and no one can take that from you.
Begin the process today, understanding that some days will be easier than others and trusting God to walk with you through this most difficult journey. He has not left you!
You are forgiven; you can forgive.
