True North: Leading Your Family Spiritually

DAY 3 OF 8

The most powerful role of being the Spiritual Leader in your home is praying with your family. This is one of the most difficult practices to implement into your daily life, but it is undeniably the most powerful.

A research study that took place several years ago decided to look at the divorce rate in America and ways to lower it. They looked at age, race, income, education, communities, and other factors. What they found was astonishing! No single factor had a significant impact on the divorce rate, except one… prayer! Couples that prayed together regularly had a 1.9% divorce rate.

If prayer is that impactful for your marriage, I have every reason to believe it is also that impactful with your children. I believe the best fathers I know are consistently praying with and for their children.

If you are thinking “I don’t know how to pray with my wife and/or kids” let me help. Start simple.

With your wife, try a prayer along these lines… “Heavenly Father, thank you so much for my wife. Thank you for our marriage and our children. Bless us and watch over us today. Use us for Your glory. In Jesus name, Amen.”

With your children, try something like this… “Lord, thank you so much for “child’s name” Help him/her know how much I love them, but even more how much you love them. Watch over them today and keep them safe. In Jesus Name, Amen.”

Question: Begin praying with your wife and children today. If you are single, be praying for your future wife and children today.
