Life According To Jim - Lessons From Jesus' Brother, JamesSample
Today’s reading will remind us that we WILL go through temptations and trials. We are sinful. No one has to teach us how to sin; we’re born good at it. But the more we follow Jesus, the more we long to be more like him and walk away from that sinful life.
God is described in this passage as the creator of lights. Other translations call him the Father of Lights. God has no association with evil and therefore does not tempt us with evil. Temptation comes from our own sinful desires and not from God.
Thankfully, we have a loving Father who describes us as his prized possession and is transforming our hearts. We often draw closest to God during the most difficult seasons. Those moments become reminders in our life of how God has provided and that he will do it again! The gospel is a message of both belonging and transformation. As you read today, think about how you’ve experienced this.

About this Plan
No one reads the book of James and thinks, “So what does that have to do with me?” Unlike many of the New Testament letters that were written to one specific church, James is writing instructions to Christians all over. During this 14-day plan, we will be challenged and encouraged by the book of James’ practical and timely message.
