Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of Spiritual Renewal

DAY 8 OF 30

June 8

Introduction

Paul gives the Galatians instructions for living in community, exhorting them to “obey the law of Christ.” He concludes his letter by warning them again about those who are advocating circumcision, emphasizing that what is important is being a “new creature” based on faith in Christ Jesus.

Today’s Scripture: Galatians 6:2 (GNT)

Help carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will obey the law of Christ.

Today’s Reading

Galatians 6:1-18

Reflect

What instructions does Paul give? How is community among believers built and sustained based on these instructions? Are these instructions relevant for your community of faith? Why or why not? Paul instructs the Galatians to “obey the law of Christ,” which means that followers of Christ are to love one another because they have been accepted by God and have received God’s Spirit, not because they want to win God’s approval. In yesterday’s reading (5:14), Paul said that “the whole Law is summed up” in the commandment to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. What does obeying the law of Christ mean to you?

Pray

Gracious God, guide me each day by your Word and teach me be ready to help others and obey the law of Christ. Amen.

Prayer Concern

New churches being planted

Tomorrow’s Reading

Acts 2:1-28: God sends the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost.

Dan 7Dan 9
