DAY 75 OF 86

1SAMUEL 30-31:
In yesterday’s story in 1st Samuel, the Philistines mustered their armies for full-scale war with Saul and the Israelites. Saul had already done a right thing in expelling all the mediums from Israel. But, since God had turned from him and would not answer him, he resorted to a medium during his darkest hour. It does not bother me too much to say that God spoke through that medium. It seems so by the evidence. But if so, it was an exception. God's word says to never consult a medium. In fact, mediums are to be stoned to death. David was preparing to go to war in support of Achish, or was he really?! Today we read the last chapter of this book.

PSALM 106b:
Psalm 106 is a companion to 105, as it again is a historical psalm. I repeat my challenge from yesterday: I see a very significant correspondence with the section of Romans we are now reading. Can you see it?

Re-reading ROMANS 10, plus 11:1-2a:
Today, as we re-read chapter 10 of Romans, let’s take time to let the message of this wonderful chapter sink in. Some of the most famous and often quoted words of the New Testament are in this chapter.

Let’s pray.
We praise you, Lord! You are worthy of our highest praise and our most extravagant expressions of thanks, because You have been so good to us, and your love is eternal. Through the glory of the heavens You proclaim that You are God and all people should seek to know You. And now in your Word, Paul has come to the very core message so important to us: We will be saved from eternal punishment for our rebellion and sin if we believe You, our God, raised Jesus from death, and if we confess that Jesus is our Lord. Thank You, our Father God, for your incredible generosity expressed in the words, “Everyone who calls out to the Lord for help will be saved.” Lord let us not imitate the children of Israel who were witnesses of your miracles to release them from slavery, but who still were rebellious and did not believe what You told them to do. Lord, we too have sinned. Please forgive us! How many people around us today need to hear about how to be saved! So Lord, here we are. Make us your messengers. Give us the beautiful feet of messengers, because of being obedient to go wherever You send us.
