DAY 12 OF 18

Word of the Day: Consistency

Definition: Steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, form; an agreement; the condition of holding together (Merriam-Webster, 2015).

The very act of remaining consistent is pure dedication. We all have commitments from childhood to adulthood that take much of our time and attention. Some children are actors and are where they are, even at a young age, due to consistently working at their craft. How dedicated is God toward us that He continues to love on us, exercise patience and bless us? There are things that He consistently does. Even when we change with the seasons, God is consistently being who He is in our lives: God. “If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny who He is” (2 Timothy 2:13). God and His son Jesus Christ are the epitome of consistency! While we understand that we have a sinful nature, it is so encouraging to know that we have a God and friend that completely understands us. This should evoke an urgency to want to live for God and strive to be the best person you can be on Earth.

Action: Choose to do something that will be an investment to you. Keep at it for 30 days and do not give up; journal your feelings while on your journey and reflect on the benefits of your consistency. Next, examine God’s consistency toward you.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for showing me what consistency looks like. Although I experience irrational moments, I simply cannot deny that You are there for me. Thank You for Jesus and thank You for the Holy Spirit.  Even though I may fall to my flesh and the vices of the enemy, we are truly grateful for You consistently making a way of escape for me, delivering me and being exactly what I need in my time of need. Please grace me to embrace this awareness and exercise good judgement and faith in my daily interactions with my brothers and sisters. All these things I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Affirmation: I acknowledge the consistency of God and I appreciate the example He has laid before me.
