Prayer # 3: Energy Extraordinaire
One of the first wake-up calls (pun intended) that we receive as mothers is the immediate realization that we will not enjoy uninterrupted sleep for at least the next eighteen years. Children are often not keen on blissful slumber right away, and many take years to realize the unmatched joy found in a good night’s sleep. So, what do we do? Well, aside from the occasional cat nap God places in our day from time to time, we lay down our weaknesses and take up His strength. Join me in prayer, will you?
Lord, oh sweet Lord,
I. Am. So. Tired. And I know it’s okay. I know it’s also okay to bring my frustrations to you because you already know them. You see the bags making a home under my tired eyes, and the gray hairs superfluously sprouting by the minute on my disheveled head. You watch me trudge between bedrooms at two in the morning to soothe these sweet babies. You wake me when I almost fall asleep driving to the grocery store. And you hear me say “not tonight” over and over again to that roommate—err—husband of mine.
Please give me the energy and stamina only you can provide. Tap into my springs of exuberance buried somewhere deep down inside this tired Momma’s soul and release them, so that I may offer some to my family as well. Thank you for giving me a reason to be tired, Lord. Because I know I should be grateful more than anything for the reasons behind this unwelcomed insomnia.
All my love,

About this Plan
As moms, we drive ourselves crazy striving for perfection. We try to prepare the healthiest meals, install the safest car seats, plan the best birthdays, yet we lie awake at night wondering if we’re doing enough. The pressures are overwhelming. God selected you to parent your child. You can survive the diaper years because you are more than enough in Christ. Cheers to the grace and goodness found in him!
