Grow Up

DAY 14 OF 14

I thought I’d finish off this “Grow Up” series of studies about Christian maturity with an obvious choice. But please don’t take this selection from Hebrews 10 to be an “oh, and you can only really be a mature Christian if you always go to a local church” sucker-punch.

Instead, as you reflect with me about the past two weeks of mulling over God’s call to us to grow and mature our faith in Christ, the thrust of Hebrews 10 (especially the last few sentences) should not hit like an annoying mandate.

Isn’t it the point of these verses - that as we grasp and love the fact that Christian faith is a developing faith in which we refine with other believers - that we will WANT to meet often with those who also are called to nurture and nourish us? Drawing near to God together, through his son Jesus, is an ongoing process of deepening and advancing our faith – with fellow believers. Growing up never sounded so amazing.

QUESTION: How can you foster a habit of meeting together with fellow believers, to spur each other on to love and good deeds?

About this Plan

Grow Up

A lot of emphasis is placed upon making the leap from childhood into adulthood. At some point, it’s going to seem weird or juvenile if we haven’t “grown up”. The Christian faith shares this element of maturing and developing. A steady yet sometimes overlooked part of our Christian faith is “growing up” – and it’s not just a solo pursuit. Christians are called to help each other in maturity.
