13 Reasons To Keep GoingSample
GOD SEES YOU
You never gotta be that lonely
You never gotta get that alone
All you gotta do is call me
And I will never let you go
-Rudimental, Never Let You Go
She was one of the first women in recorded history who qualified for the #MeToo movement: a victim of human trafficking forced to have sex with her employer. While carrying the child that resulted from the encounter, she was abused by the man’s wife. Eventually, she ran away.
Her name was Hagar and she was enslaved by Sarai, the wife of Abram – the father of the people of Israel.
In her attempt to remove herself from a seemingly impossible situation, Hagar escaped and tried to go back home to Egypt.
The Bible says “the angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert.” When asked what she was doing, she answered, “I’m running away from my mistress, Sarai.”
The angel responded with a promise and a prophecy about Hagar’s child. After hearing it, Hagar said, “You are the God who sees me.”
For possibly the first time in her life, Hagar realized that God was watching over her, that He knew about her situation, and that He cared enough about her to meet her in the desert.
God sees you. Whether you’re being abused, mistreated, neglected, feel forgotten, feel like running away, have gotten stuck, are stranded, or just can’t find any meaning in your life, He sees you. And He has a future in store for you.
God has promised: “Never will I leave you; never will I desert you” (Hebrews 13:5, NIrV). And He always keeps His promises.
PRAYER: I want to run away from my problems. Will you meet me in this desolate place? I need You, God. I need Your presence. Keep Your promise.

About this Plan
The Netflix Original Series 13 Reasons Why follows the events leading up to and following a teenager's suicide. It focuses on a subject of great concern to our culture, but does so in a way that offers little hope for those dealing with depression or suicidal thoughts. This reading plan shares the encouragement God has provided in His Word for those struggling to find reasons to keep going.
