DAY NINE: LEADING OTHERS
“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them.” 1 Peter 5:2, NIV
LISTEN
Jesus chose 12 unimpressive, ordinary people to be the first Christian leaders.
Timothy, a very young man, was chosen to oversee a whole church. Throughout history, when God has wanted to do something, he often taps someone ordinary on the shoulder and says, I need you to do something for me. He raises up a leader for a particular task, to influence people or a situation in a certain way.
A leader is an influencer. Perhaps God’s tapping you on the shoulder?

LEARN
Leaders in God’s kingdom are very different from leaders in the world. Look at some attributes of spiritual leaders:
· They are people who have experienced Christ personally (v1)
· They care about people’s spiritual well-being (v2)
· They choose to take spiritual responsibility for others (v2)
· They understand that spiritual leadership is all about serving others (v2)
· They don’t do it for money or fame, but because they feel called by God (v2)
· They lead by example, and not by using control and power (v3)
· They don’t draw people to themselves, but to Christ (v4)
· They lead people well, because they follow other leaders well (v5)
· They’re humble (v5).
Leaders always keep their eyes on Jesus, the Chief Shepherd.
