A Call To Community

DAY 7 OF 7

Joining God's Global Community

God’s global community—his Church—was formed from a faithful few. They ate together, worshipped together and shared everything. They did life together.

And as the local believers blessed each other, God added more and more people to their fellowship. The Church body’s example of living with great joy and generosity grew people into relationship with them and ultimately with God. The local community of believers became witnesses to those around them. They invited more people to join their family, and the church grew well beyond their geographic location—they established the global community of believers.

That’s what God calls each of us to join: his global community of believers. It’s all around us, whether outside our own front door or across the world. It’s an opportunity for us to be vulnerable, to be transparent, to openly participate in a family that is greater than genetics. It’s a chance for us to have brothers and sisters from all parts of the world, speaking all different languages—but all children of one Father. Part of one family, one community.

Accept his invitation to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Join the family and find a community to do life with—to be life to the world around you. And as you do that, you’ll find that your heart longs to be in community with others. Because we were never meant to do this life alone—we’re meant to be part of God’s community.

Points to Ponder:

  • What would it look like for you to engage in community? Does that mean joining a local church? Starting a Bible study? Participating in missions—whether through praying, giving or going yourself—so that others can hear God’s invitation to be part of his global family?
  •  Ask God to reveal what steps he may want you to take as you step out into community, whether locally or globally.
