DAY 11 OF 31

A Motivated Mission

Rex Stump

SET:

Katie Spotz did something that borders on really dangerous, a little crazy, and absolutely inspiring! Katie set a goal to row a 13-foot rowboat 3,038 miles across the Atlantic Ocean!

She heard the voices of others saying, “You have no experience,” and asking “Are you sure?” She considered the dangers of the ocean, as she had never rowed a boat or been in the ocean. In spite of fear, Katie was motivated to accomplish her mission. She prepared and trained by learning to row, and studied navigational skills and weather patterns. She packed food to last 100 days in her special rowboat, which was built to withstand 50-foot waves and contained a little cabin for sleeping and storage.

Where did her motivation come from? Katie had visited Kenya and witnessed the people drinking unhealthy water. She then became dedicated to providing safe drinking water to places like Kenya and to support life where life was declining. She met her goals! Katie crossed the Atlantic in 70 days and raised enough money to help to dig wells!

Over 2,000 years ago, motivated by a greater mission, God became flesh and went the distance. It was a dangerous thing to leave heaven, and I’m sure the angels said, “Are you sure?” But it was His choice! God’s mission was to rescue mankind!

The world is a mess, and God’s people need to be rescued! As a competitor for Christ, you get to share your Savior with those in need of being rescued!

GO:

1. What mission has God given you?

2. Have you accepted God’s gift?

3. How can your participation in a simple sport make a difference for others?

WORKOUT:

John 3:16–17

John 10:10

Luke 19

OVERTIME:

"Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus Christ to this earth on a mission to rescue me! Thank You for giving me hope, joy, peace, and love. Amen."

Dan 10Dan 12
