SLEEPING IN THE STORM

Jesus slept in the midst of the storm. In doing so, He demonstrated that He knew Who was watching over Him. Whoever trusts in God's care trusts that God cares for His own. Are you in a financial storm? Know that the One who calms financial storms can calm yours. Have you ever been around someone who has lost everything? I have, a few times. It seems that that person has nothing more to stand on. In times like that, the best thing we can do is to turn to God. Others can comfort you in your loss, but real help comes from the Lord. Where we turn in difficult times reveals where our confidence lies. In a financial storm, stop, take a deep breath, and come to the Father because you will need discernment and wisdom to deal with the situation. Despair won't get you anywhere.

In a storm, Mammon will try to get you to fix things yourself and in doing so things often get worse. Remember the temptation of Jesus? When He was tempted, He was at His physical limits. The Devil suggested that Jesus turn stone into bread and relieve His intense hunger, but Jesus replied, "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4). In other words, Jesus knew that in His times of greatest need, His provision came from His Father. In fact, after His time of testing, angels came and ministered to Jesus.

What about you? Even if the pressure you feel is almost unbearable, believe that your provision will come from your heavenly Father once again. He will act and provide a way out. Even if you majorly mess up, it's not over yet! The Father's favor will come to you! You can sleep in peace! Learn to rest in the midst of the storm. That is a sign of true trust. Try it!

Remember: If we learn to have peace in the midst of our financial storm, our trust in the Father grows and we do not give in to the attacks of Mammon, who wants to drive us to despair.
