Putting Your Faith Into ActionUkážka
Worship Brings Faith to Life
Psalm 95:6
“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”
Psalm 100:2
“Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.”
Worship is an essential part of our spiritual lives. In the writings about the Early Church found in Acts and 1 Corinthians, God instructs us to have a personal relationship with Him and keep our worship format simple. The simplicity of our worship allows us to eliminate the business, financial, and infrastructure challenges of most churches, so we can focus on our individual relationship with God and put our faith into action.
What is Worship?
Worship is an act of humble submission before God, during which we express our love and reverence for the Almighty. Humility is essential when we worship because we’re showing God He is worthy of our praise and adoration. Humble worship requires complete surrender–giving yourself entirely to Him in obedience, reverence, and reliance. This all draws us closer to God as we acknowledge His greatness.
What Does Simple Worship Look Like?
In the Old Testament, worship was used to connect with God and express gratitude and adoration. In the New Testament, we see how Jesus Himself was a worshiper. To understand worship in its purest form, we can turn to scripture.
For example, Psalm 95:6 tells us that worship is an act of humble submission by calling us to kneel before the Lord. The physical act of kneeling before God gives Him the honor and glory He deserves. Additionally, Psalm 100:2 tells us that worship is a joyful experience–an act of thankfulness and praise directed toward God for all He has done and will do.
Therefore, we understand that worship isn’t about the songs we sing or how popular the musicians are. Worship is an act of humble submission to God. It is our way of honoring, thanking, and glorifying Him. By eliminating the performance aspect of worship and simplifying it according to scripture, we can focus on our relationship with God and put our faith into action.
