Stretchy Faith

Okay, yesterday started with a question. Today will too!

Which is stretchier: taffy or toffee? Watch this video to see the answer—and for a little lesson on faith.

See? You’ve been reading about how your faith sometimes gets tested or might even feel weak sometimes. But you might not have thought that the very testing and stretching of your faith is what can make it stronger.

It’s true! In the Bible, James wrote that the testing of our faith is what gives us endurance. And that kind of persevering faith is what makes us complete.

Today, you’re going to read the verses before and after Hebrews 3:14, a verse you read on the first day of this Bible Plan. When you do, notice what it says about what it says about becoming “hardened” against God. Notice what it says about doing life with others who will help you to turn back to God. And think about having a stretchy, elastic faith that can endure to the end.

Ask yourself: Who are the friends or family I know who have faith in God?

Challenge yourself: Have a talk with someone you thought of from today’s “Ask yourself” question. Make a pledge to be there for each other whenever one of you is having questions or even doubts about your faith. Promise to encourage each another in faith and to remind each another of the good things about Jesus whenever you need it. Make a plan to go through this life of faith together and thank God together along the way.

Pray: God, thank You for allowing me to grow when I think about my faith in You. Thank You for bringing people into my life who will help me to grow in my faith, too. Thank You for allowing difficult times that will stretch me so that I can become stronger in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
