Being Missional in IsolationUkážka
BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR
In times of isolation, sickness, global lockdown, or natural disaster, our tendency will be to run and hide. Yes, we need to ensure that we are submitting to the authorities. If, for example, the government orders people to stay in their homes or not to gather in groups larger than ten, we need to obey that. That said, rather than being frustrated about these measures, we should view it as an opportunity to focus on the people immediately around us — our family, co-workers, neighbors, and friends. It’s time to be a good neighbor — and yes, sometimes that means social distancing!
Part of obeying Jesus is declaring the gospel, but it is also demonstrating the gospel. Word and deed go hand in hand, not because we are saved by works, but because saving faith is an active faith. We are saved by grace alone through faith alone!
During difficult times, if you know of someone in need, you must prudently, appropriately, sacrificially, and indiscriminately love them. Don’t just share the good news, be good news to your neighbor!
Do you know someone who is struggling? Someone who needs food, care, encouragement, a phone call, or more? Ask the Lord to show you how you can love them as you love yourself. What would you want someone to do to you if you were in their situation?
DAILY DISCOVERY QUESTIONS FOR JOURNALING OR DISCUSSION:
- What does this teach me about God the Father, God the Son, or God the Holy Spirit?
- What does this teach me about myself and other people?
- What does this teach me about making disciples?
- How will I obey this lesson personally?
- Who can I share these truths with today?
O tomto pláne
In times of isolation, you may be tempted to think that there is nothing that you can do to make disciples, but the Apostle Paul, who wrote about half of the New Testament, did some of his best work from prison! The books of Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon were all written from a place of isolation. Even from isolation you can make disciples.
