Let There Be Light

DAY 2 OF 4

Christmas Lights

As believers in Christ, we are to shine His light in our lives. Let’s compare the body of Christ to Christmas lights: Christmas lights are made to shine and light up the darkness. They’re pretty, and people come from near and far to see neighborhoods filled with them during the holidays. The glow of the lights draws people in. People want to come and see them. Christmas lights also exemplify great variety. In fact, the more diverse the strands of lights are, the more spectacular they are to behold. Christmas lights come in all different colors, shapes, and sizes. Some twinkle, some are super bright, and some are shaped like snowflakes or crystals, but when put together, they illuminate the night in a magnificent display of color and brightness.

This is a perfect picture of the body of Christ. People should be drawn to the light in Jesus followers. As believers, we’re called by God to be lovely in word and deed, shining His light in our families, communities, and workplaces. Jesus never said for our light to burn people. We’re simply called to shine. Just like Christmas lights, we’ll all have different gifts and different ways to shine. However, when we all come together as a body and shine in unity, it will be the most magical, diverse, and colorful array of lights we could ever imagine.

About this Plan

Let There Be Light

In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” The light of Jesus shines in our lives and illuminates the world around us. His light brings life, clarity, and direction. Jesus shines in our darkness and brings us life. Join me in this four-day Bible plan and let’s learn how the light of Jesus can light up the world around us.
