Shine Like Stars: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
A Lifestyle That Shines: God's stars live like servants
Are you into pampering? I mean, when it's you who's getting pampered? Do you like manicures, pedicures, massages, saunas or whirlpools, and room service with Godiva chocolates on your pillow? Who doesn't love being waited on and fussed over?
It's one thing to enjoy occasional treats. It's another when people adopt a life attitude that sees other people only in terms of what they can do for ME. The sin within each of us makes us full of ourselves, makes us users of others instead of lovers of others.
The Lord Jesus himself calls you to reevaluate your self-image. He invites you to enjoy seeing yourself as a servant (like him) and to enjoy making other people's lives better. Only hours before he died, he laid some "servant therapy" on his disciples: "Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you" (John 13:14,15).
Serving others is God's way for your life. It is the way of true worship, authentic joy, and personal satisfaction. Remember the King's highest praise on judgment day? Is it, "Well done, mighty, wealthy prince?" Nope. "Well done, good and faithful servant."

About this Plan
We are Christians because God chose us; decided to love us in spite of our sin; and sent Jesus to live, die, and rise again for our forgiveness. Belonging to God means changing our sinful ways. This reading plan will help you make those changes in your behavior and life so that you shine like stars.
