This child is what Christmas is all about. In the midst of our to-do lists we must make ourselves stop and think about what this birth really means. It is the beginning of the humiliation of God. Instead of showing up on earth as a man he chose to start life like all people do, as a baby. The Almighty, all powerful, infinite God chose to become a baby who needed to be cared for by finite parents. He would grow into a man, rejected by his own people, he would be persecuted, tortured and killed. The manager should never be separated from the cross. The whole point of God giving his son is so that he would die. Are we moved by this?
