Promise 4: "I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

"Jesus.” I whisper his name when one word is all I can come up with as a prayer. It's sometimes hard to feel he is there. Do you ever have those moments too?

God knows our human selves can’t always feel what’s true, and he will hold us up when our faith feels frail, our hearts grow weary, and we’re not sure we can keep standing firm.

When life begins to go downward or when we slip up, we can fear we will never be able to recover. We worry we'll slide and land in a place where there is no light or hope of coming back.

But this is the promise we have: “I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10). God’s hand is strong and loving, steady and comforting. It is ever-present if we reach for it, look for it, let it be the soft place where we land.

His nail-struck hands uphold us. His hands wipe away our tears. His hands set us on our feet over and over again. Yes, we will falter, but we will not fall. Not because we can hold it all together. But because we are always, mysteriously, held.

God, I trust your hand to uphold me no matter what happens in my life. Amen.
