Fully Equipped: Learning to Live Life With the Whole Armor of God

DAY 3 OF 3

As I spent time in my Word and intentionally studied, the Lord revealed to me the specific piece of armor I had been missing – the shoes of peace. Can you imagine trying to walk through your day without shoes? Yet spiritually, that's exactly what I was doing. I was trying to navigate challenging situations without the very thing designed to protect my steps.

You see, every morning, before we're even fully awake, the enemy often tries to plant negative thoughts in our minds. "You didn't do this yesterday." "You didn't pay attention to that." "You didn't respond right to this person." Sound familiar? That's why we need to put on the whole Armor before our feet even hit the ground for the day.

The shoes of peace aren't just about feeling peaceful – they're about being prepared to stand firm in God's peace no matter what comes our way. Think about it: your witness for Christ depends on how you respond to life's challenges. As my father always told me, "Your reputation goes further than you do." We're establishing a reputation for God here on earth, and how we handle adversity speaks volumes about our faith.

Remember, you never know who's watching your life. That difficult situation at work? Someone's watching how you handle it. That family conflict? Your children are learning from your response. You are witnessing Jesus to someone every day, no matter the circumstance, and the armor helps us to witness well!

Friend, the armor of God isn’t just something we know, it’s something we wear. It became a necessary part of how we clothed ourselves daily when we came to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior because we became a threat to the enemy. So, how do we clothe ourselves with the armor daily?

  1. Start with Prayer – Ask God each morning to clothe you in the whole Armor daily, even speaking each piece of the armor aloud…
  2. Get in the Word – Read and meditate on Scripture to renew your mind (Romans 12:2). Just like you wouldn’t leave the house without clothes, don’t step into your day without the Word.
  3. Worship and Gratitude – Keep your heart focused on God by worshiping, even if it’s just a song or a moment of thanksgiving.
  4. Guard Your Thoughts – Be intentional about rejecting negative, fearful, or sinful thoughts. Replace them with truth from Scripture.
  5. Live It Out – Show love, kindness, and grace in your interactions. Walking in love (Colossians 3:14) is like putting on spiritual clothing that reflects Christ.
  6. Stay Connected to Community – Surround yourself with others who encourage you in faith. Fellowship helps strengthen your walk.
  7. Check Yourself Throughout the Day – If frustration, anxiety, or temptation creeps in, pause and realign yourself with God’s truth.

Now, are you ready to put on the Whole Armor of God?

Final Prayer: Father, thank You for providing us with Your full armor. Today, we choose to put it on – every piece. Lord, help us walk in Your perfect peace, even in the midst of life's battles. Guard our hearts, protect our minds, and help us to be a witness that brings glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, amen.
