Focus of the month: (The Beatitudes)

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

A Devoted but Imperfect King

King Asa stood out among Judah’s kings because he sought the Lord and removed idols from the land. His heart was more faithful than his predecessors, yet later in life, he relied on human alliances rather than trusting God completely. Asa’s reign reminds us that devotion to God matters, but so does perseverance in faith.

Where Is Your Treasure?

Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:19-21 challenge us to store up treasures in heaven, not on earth. Asa’s reforms were good, but his later choices showed a shift in trust. Our hearts follow what we value most—are we investing in God’s kingdom or in temporary security?

Reflection & Application

Where your treasure is, your heart will be also. Are you building a life that lasts by trusting God fully, or are you holding onto temporary things?

Prayer:
Lord, help me to treasure You above all else. Keep my heart devoted to You, not just for a season but for a lifetime. Amen.
