Lent: The Journey of Letting Go

DAY 17 OF 40

Week 3: The Cost of Love and Faith

Theme: Living in God’s Kingdom means embracing a love and faith that often defy our expectations, inviting us to sacrifice, trust, and grow in humility.

Focus Scripture: Mark 8:34-35 – “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”

Connect: If you could sum up what it means to follow God, what would it be? Jesus makes it simple: love God and love others. But simple doesn’t always mean easy.

Engage: In Mark 12, Jesus explains that the most important thing we can do is love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength—and to love others as ourselves. This kind of love isn’t just a feeling; it’s active and often sacrificial. It’s the kind of love Jesus shows us through His life and death. When we live with this love, we reflect on what God’s Kingdom is all about.

Apply: Who can you show love to today? Think of one way you can demonstrate God’s love—whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or taking time to really listen to someone.

About this Plan

Lent: The Journey of Letting Go

Lent begins with a call to release control and embrace surrender. By letting go of the burdens we carry, we create space for God’s grace to bring renewal and transformation. Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
