Lessons From the Book of JobSample
Live with Jesus today
Salaam!
We have come to the last day of our reflection on the Book of Job together. Did you enjoy it?
One of the main questions that arises as we read the book of Job is: Why does God allow us to be tested?
Many times we don’t know why God allows suffering into our lives, but we learn from the Bible that sometimes He allows it to test us.
Not only Job but even Jesus was tested during His time on earth. In Matthew 4:1, it says:
"Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.”
Our response to calamity will reveal what is truly in our hearts. God allowed Satan to test Job because He wanted to show Satan that Job would continue to be blameless and upright without all God’s blessings bestowed on him. While facing his trials, Job said:
“Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble? In all this, Job did not sin in what he said” - Job 2:10.
The Bible repeatedly speaks about how God tests and refines us through fire Proverbs 17:3, Zechariah 13:9, 1 Peter 1:7, Malachi 3:2–3. Fire in the Bible represents trials and hard times.
Trials reveal what is inside of us. Satan thought Job was righteous and blameless because of the absence of trials, but I believe his righteousness and blamelessness prepared Job for what was to come. Our response to today’s challenges reflects how we have lived our yesterdays.
Our rescue plan when calamity hits tomorrow, starts with living with Jesus today.
