DAY 5 – MIND & MOUTH ALIGNMENT
Yesterday, we discussed one of the steps to becoming a good financial steward is consistency in healthy habits. These productive patterns actually stem from cultivating a positive mindset. If we dwell on negative thoughts, it will result in negative words and actions. It is highly unlikely for anything fruitful to grow from a negative lifestyle. Luke 6:45 says A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Now, wait a minute, don’t get offended; I’m not calling you evil. But I am admonishing us that without exception, we are what we think!
The mind is the battlefield. All of our actions, whether good or bad, begin with our thoughts. If we desire something different or better, then we must wage war against the enemy to change the way we think. Don’t ever get sidetracked from the fact that this is a spiritual warfare we are fighting. It’s not against situations and it’s not against people. It is against spiritual wickedness! One of the devil’s main strategies is to bombard our minds so that we will behave out of character, step outside of the will of God, and disrupt the blessings that God has promised.
But I’ve got GOOD NEWS for you! We can confront this poverty mentality by having mind and mouth alignment, and agreement with the Word of God. You see, the enemy is so cunning that when he infiltrates our thoughts, he uses our very mouths to speak against our promises. Proverbs 18:21 warns us that death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. This is why it is so important that we close our MIND AND MOUTH to the destructive thoughts of the devil. On the other hand, we have to open up our mouths and speak against the spirit of lack! Despite our current circumstances, we must decree and declare what the Bible says about the prosperity of the Believer.
It's not easy to look beyond what we see in the natural and maintain our belief for what God has shown us in the spiritual. It will require us to release our fears and inhibitions and step outside of our sphere of comfort and familiarity. But, my brothers and sisters, this is the only way to increase our capacity to carry more; we must walk by faith! We cannot take on a victim’s mentality that is rooted in what happened to us in the past. You know what I mean … where you were born, what you didn’t have when you were growing up, who mistreated you, how you are the black sheep of the family. Come on now - the God we serve is stronger than that. He is mightier than that. Our Lord and Savior is not bound by natural conditions or logic. Our God works in the SUPERNATURAL. So, are you going to trust Him and speak His thoughts toward you or are you going to think, speak, and act on the thoughts of the adversary?
