Influencing Your College Campus for Jesus a 5 - Day Devotion by Shannon ThomasSample
Purposeful Partnership
Jesus began His ministry in partnership, choosing disciples to work alongside Him. He modeled what it looks like to serve together. It’s no different for us today. During our early days as a collegiate ministry leader, we often felt like we had to carry the burden of ministry on our own. Then a mentor shared this verse with me: "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). After we embraced this idea, everything changed. That simple truth is there is power of collaboration.
Suddenly, it wasn’t just our group trying to reach people, we became an army working to take over our campus for Jesus. We teamed up with other student groups, and together we saw the impact multiply. Events were bigger, the message was clearer, and more students were hearing about Jesus. When we partner with others who share our vision, God’s Kingdom grows in ways we couldn’t achieve on our own.
The beauty of partnership is that it reflects God’s design for His church. We are one body with many parts, all working together to spread the Gospel. We may have different approaches or focus areas, but when we come together in unity, God uses our collective efforts to expand His Kingdom. The Apostle Paul often emphasized how we need each other, and that’s just as true on our college campuses as it is in the global church. Partnership is about joining forces. It’s about aligning with people who share your heart for the campus—whether they are ministries, organizations, or fellow leaders. No one person or ministry can do it all. But when we partner with others, the impact we can make for Jesus is far greater than anything we could accomplish alone. When we link arms for Jesus, we mirror His design for the church: many parts working together for His glory.
Reflection Question: Who can you partner with on your campus to make Jesus more known? How can collaboration increase your influence?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of partnership in Your Kingdom. Teach us to work alongside others for Your glory. Help us join forces to make Your name known on our campus and reflect the unity You desire.
