Come Up Higher: A Call to Deeper Fellowship and Purpose

DAY 4 OF 31

LEAVING THE VALLEY BEHIND

Life sometimes brings us into valley experiences—seasons of trials, failures, or spiritual stagnation. While these moments are unavoidable, they are not where God intends for you to remain. The valley is a place of preparation, not a destination.

David acknowledged the presence of valleys but emphasized God’s guiding Rod and Staff as his comfort (Psalm 23:4). Similarly, Paul declared his focus on forgetting what lies behind and pressing toward the prize of God’s High Calling (Philippians 3:13-14). Both perspectives remind us that valleys are temporary and designed to refine us for greater heights.

In the valley, God shapes your character, strengthens your resolve, and deepens your dependence on Him. Yet, it is crucial not to cling to a valley mindset. Some people grow so comfortable with their struggles that they fail to recognize when it is time to move forward.

If you are in a valley season, see it as an opportunity for growth. Use this time to develop perseverance, refine your faith, and seek God’s Guidance. As Psalm 84:5-6 illustrates, those who find strength in God transform the valley of weeping into a place of blessing. Trust Him to lead you upward as you take steps of faith.

THOUGHT TO PONDER: What valley experience are you holding onto that may be preventing you from moving higher? How can you trust God to lead you upward today?

PRAYER: Lord, thank You for walking with me through the valleys. Help me release any weight holding me back and trust You to lift me higher. Amen.
