The House That Jesus Built

DAY 1 OF 5

Rebuilding

The last ten years have brought the largest deconstruction movement the Evangelical Church has seen in our lifetime. Marketing campaigns coaxing people back into pews are not working. The man-made strategies and plans to get believers and nonbelievers through the doors aren’t as effective as they were in decades past.

But deconstruction isn’t the end of the Church. It is an opportunity and invitation to rebuild on the foundation that Jesus established and to work alongside our fellow brothers and sisters in the faith who are desperate to see his Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

We read in Ecclesiastes chapter 3 that there is a season for everything and in verse 3, “a time to tear down and a time to build up.” It’s time for the Kingdom builders to come out of hiding and begin surveying our current condition, with our blueprint in hand: the Word of God. This blueprint for those seeking first the Kingdom of God here on earth will:

• Begin on the foundation of Jesus Christ.

• Hear the voice of God.

• Teach the Word of God.

• Love God.

• Love people.

• Go and make disciples.

Are you ready to partner with Jesus in his Church in a rapidly changing world, carrying a never-changing Gospel? We have everything we need in the Word of God to rebuild our churches on a foundation that is unshakable, immovable, and unwavering in our faith. We don’t need to use strategies of this world to be a Church that brings others into the saving grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. We know what to do and how to do it.

So let’s partner with God to rebuild his Church so we can lead a lost world to one name and one name alone: Jesus Christ.

He is coming back soon for a spotless Bride.

He is coming back for his Church. That Church is you and me.

Reflection Prayer: “Lord, forgive me for following the ways of the world, partnering with sin, and demanding of others what I myself wasn’t willing to give. Help me to join with others to sift through the rubble of the present-day church and build something beautiful for you.”

Day 2

About this Plan

The House That Jesus Built

In recent years, many of us have been tempted to walk away from the Church—particularly in light of spiritual abuse, cultural deconstruction, and political divisions. Yet when we build our faith, our ministry, our churches on Christ, even the most violent storms won’t be able to knock them down. This week’s devotional explores what it means to invite Jesus back into his home and start the rebuilding process.
