USE ME

During this time of fasting, I hope you will join me in praying a bold prayer to our Lord. The prayer I'm laying before the Lord is "Use me." Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that God has created us to do good works. I Peter 4:10-11 emphasizes the importance of using our God-given gifts to serve others.

Often, when we see suffering, injustice, or weakness around us, we pray FOR the people or situation. "Lord, please help them…", "God, provide the strength they need…", "Jesus, help justice come to light…". But amazing things can happen when we pray a different prayer. In this prayer, we ask the Lord to use us to help those who are suffering, to assist with bringing injustice to light, or to let our hands and feet bring strength to those who are weak. These sorts of prayers have led me to recognize the nudge of the Holy Spirit, which has emboldened me to serve Him in ways that bring blessings to others and draw me closer to my Savior.

In the past, God has answered these prayers by leading me to join Cornwall's mission team after Hurricane Katrina, take part in Cornwall at the Mall events, leading a small group, or sometimes just opening my eyes to how He can use me to bring joy to someone in my life who is hurting or going through a life-changing event. It may be just a small gesture of sending a card, delivering a meal, or praying with someone. It really doesn't matter whether the prayer of "Use me" leads you to a big life decision or just a small act of kindness; there's something very fulfilling that comes from knowing that God has used you to serve His people.
