KEEP BELIEVING
Here are some other keys to reducing stress and anxiety in your life–when you feel stressed, meditate on these Bible truths:
Know Who You Are: Jesus says to us, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life” (John 8:12). If you’re saved, you don’t walk in darkness because you have the Light of life–Jesus–living in you! It’s vital that you know who you are in Christ. Learn to believe only who God says you are, not what the world says. Look into the Word to find your identity and your freedom.
Know Who You’re Trying to Please: Jesus Himself prayed, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42). This is the prayer that never fails–the prayer of consecration. When life gets overwhelming, remember that you don’t have to please everyone–just God. Seek His will and do it; consecrate yourself to Him. Finding your place and staying there to please God is a great stress-reliever.
Know Your Assignment: One time in Capernaum when Jesus had done many miracles, the people tried to keep Him from leaving, but He told them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose” (Luke 4:43). There will always be more to do, with people pulling at us. It’s vital to understand your God-given assignment and know His priorities for you. If you’re stressed, ask God if you’re doing too much, doing things He hasn’t assigned to you. Simplify your life.
Keep Believing and Don’t Stop: In John 14:1 Jesus said, “Don't let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.” It’s easy to get negative when you’re feeling stressed. But Jesus reminds us to believe no matter what’s going on around us. Keep your eyes on His promises and keep a positive expectation that what you’re believing for is coming to pass. Faith expects the promise of God to prevail.
