Biblical Money Wisdom for College StudentsSample

Biblical Money Wisdom for College Students

DAY 1 OF 3

Hey there, Friend!

Between tuition, textbooks, and those late-night pizza runs, college can feel like a giant vacuum for your cash. But the Bible's got some solid advice that's as relevant in the dorm as anywhere else!

First up, Proverbs 21:20:

"The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down."

Even if it's just a few bucks from your part-time job or work-study, start stashing some away. Future you will thank present you.

Luke 14:28-30 instructs us about the importance of planning:

"Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?"

Sounds a lot like budgeting, right?

Before you commit to that spring break trip or new gaming system, make sure you've crunched the numbers.

Now, let's talk a bit about debt:

Proverbs 22:26-27 warns, "Do not be one who shakes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts; if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you.”

This isn't to say that it is a sin to be in debt, but it's a heads-up about the dangers of going into it.

When considering loans, think carefully about your future ability to repay. Education is an investment, but you don't want to be paying for college until you're 40.

So let’s start here today, and tomorrow, we’ll explore more Biblical financial wisdom!
