There's Hope With the HealerSample

Today we’re going to read a story of healing that, if it happened in modern times, would go so viral it would break the internet. I love how it speaks to what God can do and what He commands us to do.

In the story as told in the Gospel of Luke, Jesus has recently begun His Ministry and people are starting to find out about this incredible Healer. They’re following Him wherever He goes and some of them are going to great lengths to get in front of Him.

Which is where our story begins. There’s a paralyzed man who has some friends who are so desperate—alongside him—to get him to the Healer that they decide not to overpower the crowds but instead to power over them—literally—by taking their paralyzed friend to the roof of the house where Jesus is staying, and then TEARING OFF THAT ROOF to lower their friend down.

They wanted to get to the Healer!

Sometimes in life, you have to be willing to look a little crazy and desperate. Because breaking through the ceiling of a random person’s house and dropping a guy on a mat in front of another guy…well, that seems a little desperate, doesn’t it?!

It reminds me of Jairus, whose daughter was dying, or the woman with the issue of blood who only wanted to touch Jesus’s cloak. These were desperate people who came to the Healer and found what they needed.

Where in your life do you need to meet the Healer? Is there something crippling you, consuming, you or changing you?

Something you’re obsessing over, trying to control, overwhelming you with anxiety?

Something you’re addicted to, someone you’re fighting with, someplace you can’t go or never want to go to again?

Do you have a health problem, a heart problem, a sin problem?

Tear off the roof that’s holding you back and get to the Healer!
