DAY 5 OF 6

Day 5: Living for Eternity

Key Scripture: Matthew 6:19-21

What are you investing in—temporary things or eternal treasures? Jesus calls us to shift our focus from the temporary to the eternal.

In Matthew 6:19-21, Jesus teaches us about the importance of living with an eternal perspective. "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Earthly treasures—like wealth, status, and possessions—are temporary and will eventually fade away. But the things we do for God’s Kingdom have eternal value and will last forever.

Living for eternity means shifting our focus from material success to spiritual growth and service. It’s about investing in things that matter—like loving others, sharing the Gospel, and growing closer to God. When we prioritize eternal treasures, we begin to see life through a different lens. Success is no longer measured by how much we own or how high we climb, but by how faithfully we live out God’s calling.

Jesus reminds us, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." If we invest in earthly things, our hearts will be consumed by them. But if we invest in heavenly things, our hearts will be set on God and his Kingdom.

Take a moment today to evaluate your priorities. Are you focused more on the temporary or the eternal? Ask God to help you live with eternity in mind, storing up treasures in heaven through love, service, and faith.

Prayer:
Lord, help me shift my focus from temporary, worldly things to what truly matters in your Kingdom. Teach me to live with an eternal perspective, investing in the things that have lasting value.
