Clarifying Roles & Responsibilities God’s Way: Part IV
In this series, we’re discussing roles and responsibilities. We’ve discussed finding the right people and clearly defining roles.
When God commanded the Israelites to build a tabernacle, there was a building phase that later became the maintenance phase. Bezalel was the perfect man called to lead the craftsmen during the building phase of the tabernacle. However, that was where his skills ended in their usefulness for the tabernacle.
Exodus 38:22 says, “Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made all that the Lord commanded Moses.”
Now when the tabernacle was complete, the tribe of Kohath was called to maintain Bezalel’s work. Bezalel had completed the tasks he had been given, however, he had skills outside of craftmanship. Bezalel was then called to a new role as a warrior for the tribe of Judah. His abilities were made the most of even though they varied. An appropriate replacement was then found to continue the care of the tabernacle.
In business, there are building phases and maintaining phases. Be aware; you may need different people for different phases. However, you may still be able to find other areas your original employees can work in.
Questions for Reflection
- What phase of business are you in? What phase do you anticipate transitioning into soon? What new abilities or skills will your company need?
- What other skills do your employees have? How might make the best use of who you already have?
