UNPACK This...Finding God's Faithfulness

DAY 4 OF 5

From Mundane To Meaningful

Ratings have shown that there has been a decline in interest in the MLB All-Star Game in recent decades.

Two primary reasons are a lack of meaning in the game and the increasing monotony of matchups.

Since players have relatively less incentive to win the contest, the level of effort regularly feels diminished.

And with the league changing the schedule to include more interleague matchups during the regular season, there's no longer the intrigue in watching stars from opposing leagues battle each other.

This results in the MLB All-Star game seeming mundane as players go through the motions.

As followers of Jesus, two of the biggest hindrances we face in living a pleasing life to the Lord is feeling either a lack of meaning or a lingering monotony in our day-to-day activities.

Much of what we do daily is not glamorous, making it feel like much of our life lacks meaning and purpose.

However, one of the Bible's most encouraging messages is that our activities can have true meaning and purpose if we approach them with the correct attitude.

1 Thessalonians 4:11 (NLT) says, "Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before."

Many believers incorrectly feel that living with purpose and meaning means accomplishing something extravagant.

But God is not as concerned about our earthly accomplishments as He is about our being faithful to Him and striving to bring Him honor and glory with our attitude, obedience, and diligence.

1 Corinthians 10:31 (NLT) states, "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

It changes our perspective when we embrace that God sees our most minor acts and will one day reward even the most inconsequential tasks for His glory.

Today, let's be faithful in our mundane tasks, rejoicing that we can bring God glory in the ordinary.

I'm Matt Osborne, and you can UNPACK that!
