Unshaken | Be the Man God Made You to Be: Your Identity in Christ

DAY 3 OF 7

Day 3: You are a Warrior for God’s Kingdom

As you have been reflecting these days on your identity in Christ, recognize that you are a creation of God, distinct and purposeful.

Your past failures, present challenges, or future struggles do not define who you are in Christ. You have been redeemed by Jesus. You have been lifted from that state marred by sin—sins committed by you or sins committed against you.

In Christ, you are called to be an ambassador, mirroring the priestly role once confined to biblical times. Like them, you are now part of a royal priesthood, under Christ, the ultimate High Priest whose sacrifice once and for all bridged the gap between God and man.

As Jesus prepared to ascend to heaven, He entrusted a mission to His disciples—a mission that extends to us: to make disciples. This mission persists in a world still grappling with its fallen nature.

The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Romans, articulates how all of creation anxiously awaits the day of ultimate redemption. While you stand redeemed, not all men have reached this realization, and the presence of evil persists due to humanity’s fallen nature.

This evil manifests in three primary forms: our inherent sinful nature, Satan—whom Jesus described as the prince of this world—and the world systems that, although not inherently evil, are often manipulated by the enemy to propagate evil and drive souls away from God.

We find ourselves in the midst of this ongoing battle between good and evil, but we are not defenseless. Christ’s redemption equips us with the Holy Spirit within and the full Armor of God as described by the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 6:10-18, preparing us to stand firm against these adversities:

  • Belt of Truth: Anchors us in God’s reality, foundational for our spiritual integrity. It’s the Gospel of being saved by grace alone, through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone for God’s Glory alone.
  • Breastplate of Righteousness: Shields our hearts from temptations and deceptions. It is confession and repentance of our sins that lead to righteousness.
  • Shoes of the Gospel of Peace: Empowers us to stand our ground with a firm footing because we are at peace with God through Christ. We become yoked with Christ and his will for our lives.
  • Shield of Faith: Deflects doubts, discouragements, and deceits from the enemy.
  • Helmet of Salvation: Secures our identity as redeemed children of God, protecting our minds.
  • Sword of the Spirit: The Word of God, the essential offensive weapon that cuts through deception and moral compromise.

We encourage you today to deeply engage with and memorize this Scripture from Ephesians 6:10-18. This passage will constantly remind you that you are equipped and empowered to stand firm in this spiritual battle we face. Pay particular attention to the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. It is your primary weapon in this fight.

Reflect on how Jesus countered Satan’s temptations by quoting Scripture, demonstrating the power and authority of God's Word.

He taught us in the Lord's Prayer to ask for our daily bread. As we pray this, let’s also remember that Jesus also responded when being tempted that man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. So, God’s Word should also be our daily bread.

The Bible, being the inspired Word of God, equips us to overcome temptation and to depend fully on Him in every circumstance.

Be encouraged today to fight this battle with confidence, knowing that in Christ, you are more than a conqueror.
