When I Feel I Am Not Good Enough

DAY 4 OF 9

When I Feel I'm Not Good Enough

The story of Abraham, Peter, Ruth, Solomon, Ahaz, Uzziah, Manasseh and Rahab

Many examples of prominent believers in Scripture have failed at times. We read of Abraham, the man who didn't even have the courage to tell Pharaoh Sarah was his wife. And God calls Himself the God of Abraham.

He is the God of Peter, the man who denied the Master himself. Peter, who turned his back on the gospel (after Jesus' resurrection) and went back to the fishing nets, forgot his calling. This very man God made a pillar in his kingdom.

He is also the God of Ruth, the Moabite woman. The Moabites were a people who came into being out of an act of incest between Lot and his youngest daughter. Yet, she is included in Jesus' genealogy. God is not ashamed of Ruth the Moabite.

He is the God of Solomon, the king with a thousand wives and concubines and eventually went after other gods. Jesus' genealogy included people like King Ahaz, the king who was more wicked than all the other kings before him, King Hezekiah and King Uzziah—two kings who became proud. In his genealogy is included King Manasseh, the most wicked of all the kings in the Bible (2 Kings 21:11) and who eventually fully turned to God.

God, the God of Jacob and David, is also the God of Rahab, the harlot. By God's grace and mercy, this wicked woman is included in Jesus' genealogy. God became the God of Rahab, the disgraced woman.

Perhaps your life has also been filled with the valleys and darkness of impurity, divorce, and immorality. But this does not mean that you cannot be forgiven and healed. It only increases the miracle God wants to perform in you.

All of us go through life with much pain, failures, and regrets. So often, we despair of ourselves. We come to a point where we do not feel useful or worthy and also think even God will not waste His time with us. May the following Scriptures and devotions be helpful to you.
