Faith, Part 2 of 3Sample
Whoever believes in the Lord Jesus receives forgiveness
“To Him [=Jesus] all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.” (Acts 10:43)
Because of sin, our relationship with the Lord God is disturbed. This is true for humanity in general and for each of us personally. Sometimes we experience the distance from our Creator as extra wide and painful, for example when we have committed a serious transgression or suddenly see that we have been stuck in wrong patterns for a long time. Our guilt prevents us from coming into God’s presence. How we can then long for forgiveness, for a fresh start.
And that is exactly what God wants to give us. In the Old Testament there was a whole system of sacrifices that could be made after certain transgressions. The Lord promised, “So the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin, and he shall be forgiven” (for example, in Leviticus 4:20; 26; 31; 35). But these sacrifices did not stand on their own. They pointed forward to the ultimate Sacrifice when Jesus Christ offered Himself. He sacrificed His own life as payment for our sins. Therefore, everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness, completely free, because the price has already been paid.
Have you already experienced the liberating power of God's forgiveness?
