DAY 7 OF 7

Worship breaks chains

Our choice to exercise free will is one of the most impacting factors to the outcome of the trials and challenges we face every day as Christians. We can choose to become disheartened, discouraged and depressed by our situation, or we can choose to trust that God is always in control. And choose to worship Him through our storm.

Paul and Silas were worshipping when the chains that bound them came loose. Not just their chains, but the chains of everyone in the prison with them. And it didn’t end there. It wasn’t just physical chains that were broken. The scripture goes on to say in verses 29 to 34 that the jailor and his whole household came to believe in God. The chains of unbelief were broken for this man and his family, and they chose that day to enter into the kingdom of God.

So many were impacted by a choice to worship God in the midst of suffering, pain and injustice. All of this happened because they chose worship – a display of trust in His sovereignty – over focusing on overwhelming circumstances and the feelings that come with it.

Choosing to worship in the midst of challenges and trials is choosing to trust God. It’s allowing Him the opportunity to break the chains that bind us, and those around us. It allows others to see us choose Christ, and choose to do the same.

This is the power of worship.
