Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample
And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21).
How important is the role of women in God’s plan?
The Lord created the beautiful heavens and earth. In Genesis 1:31 He gives the following assessment: “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.” Yet in the next chapter, “the LORD God said, ‘It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him’” (Genesis 2:18). God graciously provided Eve for Adam as a helper in the same way that He helps His people (Exodus 18:4; Psalm 121:1-2). Similarly, the Lord chooses another woman, Mary, for a significant role. The virgin fulfills Scripture by giving birth to the Messiah (Genesis 3:15; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:22-23).
Employment Point: Imitate God, Eve, and Mary by becoming a godly helper to others.
