Alive and Personal

After that eventful shopping trip, I became more aware than ever that God orders our steps so we can shine His light. According to Psalm 37:23, “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” I don’t have to be concerned about who I will reach or how I will shine my light. Neither do I have to be concerned about the outcome. All of that is God’s doing.

The story of God’s love is so incredible and yet so easy to understand that one Bible verse can summarize it: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

This verse may seem overused. But don’t allow its familiarity to deter you from understanding its meaning. God poured out His love to such a great degree that He gave us the very best gift He had. The fact that anyone can know Jesus is the best news we could ever hear. And the best news we could ever share.

Your testimony is your story of how God’s unconditional, sacrificial love has changed your life. It is not meant to be kept a secret. In fact, according to Matthew 5:14–16, your life and your light are inseparable. John 1:4 says, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” The light of Christ is alive and personal. His light shines through your life.

Ephesians 3:20 beautifully sums up how God chooses to use us: “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”

The whole world is craving an encounter with God’s love. Every kind word shines a light. Every good deed shows the way. Every person you meet will say there’s something different and attractive about you. Get ready to place your light high on a lampstand and shine for the ones you’ll meet along the way!

Dear heavenly Father, open my eyes to the possibilities and encounters that await me as I share my faith with others. Help me to see with deeper insight, to comprehend with greater clarity, and to trust with firmer faith, knowing that You are with me at every intersection of my day today. Amen.
