The Jesus Mark Wants You to Know - 28 Days to Become More Intimate With Jesus

DAY 1 OF 28

Day 1 - Mark 1:1

Fearful to Fearless

You have to love the gospel writer Mark! Wasn’t he the guy who was once that timid coward who ran away from Jesus’ enemies in the Garden of Gethsemane? And then ran away again when he was out on a mission tour with the apostle Paul?

Yet here he is, years later, courageously and boldly writing down what he calls “The Good News About Jesus the Messiah.” It's like he couldn't hold it in. He gives the accounts of Jesus ministry with a sense of urgency and passion. It appears that he is compelled to let everyone know exactly who Jesus is and what he came to do.

Why? What happened to him that he went from being timid to bold and impassioned?

Two reasons:

First, he was in a hurry for everyone to hear the Good News about Messiah Jesus. Historians believe he wrote his gospel around the time Jerusalem fell to the Romans in AD 70. Mark sees time running out and the likely return of Jesus.

But the second and most compelling reason is because this Good News about Jesus was too important NOT to share. What Mark saw and heard about Jesus completely changed him from the inside out. From being fearful to fearless! This happens when we encounter Jesus. We experience the power of His Good News of forgiveness and salvation.

Has this happened to you? Are you timid when it comes to your faith and living it out? How can you go deeper with Jesus so that you become fearless and courageous?
