Walk in Faith

DAY 1 OF 4

Seek the Lord in Wisdom

If you study the great movements of God, spiritual revivals always come at a low moment in history. They don’t come at the height of prosperity when everyone’s comfortable but when people are feeling a desperation for God. We dream, plan, ponder, and set goals, often while neglecting to include God in our plans. We tend to forget that we can’t accomplish anything in our own wisdom and strength, so God sometimes allows and arranges situations to bring us closer to Him.

Today’s church needs to learn this same lesson. Our problems often disguise themselves. We think we have financial problems, or physical problems, or relationship problems. But what is behind all those issues is a wisdom problem. Every problem you face is ultimately a wisdom problem. And believe it or not, that’s good news!

The great thing about wisdom is that if you lack it, you only need to ask for it. However, there’s a right way and a wrong way to ask: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways” (Jas. 1:5–8).

Lots of people can offer us the wisdom of age and experience, but the wisdom from God is on a whole different level. It is wisdom from above that provides insights into a situation you could never realize on your own. God offers this wisdom “liberally and without reproach,” yet a fertile mind and a spiritual hunger and thirst are required to comprehend it.

Believers are called to engage this world with supernatural ability and manifest God’s kingdom, but it takes wisdom from God to do so. We’re often quick to impose our political views on the people in our circles of influence, or our trivial opinions about music, sports teams, and every little thing. But when we’re among others, we should be offering them the wisdom of God.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. – Proverbs 1:7, MEV

For the LORD gives wisdom; out of His mouth come knowledge and understanding. – Proverbs 2:6, MEV

Day 2

About this Plan

Walk in Faith

What does it mean to walk by faith and not by sight? In this 4-day devotional by Phil Hotsenpiller you will discover what it means to walk in faith regardless of the troubles facing you or the world around you. Instead of walking in bondage, now is the chance to learn how to seek God and walk with Him intimately for a life of freedom.
