Distraction: The Enemy of DirectionSample
Distraction kills our purpose more often than fear, doubt, and laziness combined.
From what I’ve read about the heroes found within Scripture, our ability to overcome distraction will be the number one determinant of how successful you are on your path to purpose.
1. David was distracted by pleasure.
2. Abraham was distracted by fear.
3. Paul was distracted by pain.
We give our distractions different names, but at the end of the day, distraction is anything that pulls our attention away from God.
The first distraction is a common one, but thankfully, one that God has spoken about extensively.
Distraction #1: The Worries of Life
Don’t let the life you have distract you from the life you want.
We have too much on our plates: work, family duties, volunteering, the list goes on. But that’s not an excuse that God will accept.
In the New Testament, we see Jesus continually going off by Himself, making room in His life just to be with His Father.
Don’t let the urgent crowd out the important.
What distractions are keeping you from this important moment in your life?
What fears are stopping you?
I believe helping you gain more awareness is one of my assignments in life.
My goal is for Jesus to say to you, "well done, my good and faithful steward."
I know you want to hear that too. I also know, you may feel like your life is nowhere close.
That's why I’m writing this to you. This isn’t a coincidence. It's a confirmation.
As you know, the devil wants to steal, kill and destroy you.
One of the best ways he does that is by killing your dreams and purpose. If he can crush your dreams and purpose (your assignment), then you will never produce what God intended.
You’ll live a life with your talents buried in the ground. I know you don't want that. I also know you probably feel like you don't know what to do.
It’s easy to become overwhelmed with the worries of life. We all have become distracted at different points within our lives. Sometimes, we’re simply going through the motions, bouncing from one area to another. It can be all too easy to let our spiritual tasks be put on the backburner.
We cannot, however, allow the stresses of our daily lives to take precedence over our purpose.
We must stay focused.
